What font management applet are you using? The Font Thing, Typograf, My Fonts and Font Manager all work flawlessly under XP. Depending on "how long are font names", it may cause problems, and it is not directly linked to the fonts amount but to "total fontnames length" in characters. You may find more info at MSKB. Can someone give me some leads on font management software and also some idea of how it will work.

I deleted all dfonts except LucidaGrande, and put all regular fonts in one main font folder. If you have a lot of fonts, of course you MUST have a font management program. We always used ATM deluxe for font management and it worked Quite well. Apparently Adobe has discontinued the product as there is not an XP version. I've tried several different font management apps and Font Navigator is the one I stick with. I do have occasional minor problems using it at work under Windows 98 though. I've had no problems with it at home under Windows XP Pro. Extensis Suitcase is another font management app that has worked well for me.
